I'm a native Japanese speaker living in Australia. I know what it's like to learn a language as an adult — I did it the other way around, with English. My lessons are relaxed, practical and personalised: we talk, laugh, make mistakes and fix them together. Whether you're prepping for a Japan trip, chasing JLPT, or finally want to watch anime without subtitles, I'll build the path with you.

Questions before you book
I'm a complete beginner — is that OK?
Absolutely. Most of my students start from zero. We start speaking from lesson one.
Do I need to learn hiragana first?
No — we can start with romaji and conversation, and add hiragana at your pace. If reading is your goal, we build it in from the start.
What do I need for lessons?
A laptop or phone with Zoom, and a notebook. All materials are provided.
Can I reschedule a lesson?
Yes — free rescheduling with 24 hours notice.
Do you teach high-school students (HSC / VCE Japanese)?
Yes — exam-focused tutoring is available. Mention it when you book your trial.
How long until I can hold a basic conversation?
Most students reach comfortable travel-level conversation after about 3-6 months of weekly lessons.
